The need of counseling has been realized throughout people’s life-span(s). Seeking timely guidance and counseling can alleviate much of the suffering so unavoidable in human life. Reema has been working in her home town as a counseling psychologist for an year now. She takes special interest in Career Counseling.
Following are her views: Individuals differ with regard to their abilities, interests and personality attributes. Though one can develop almost any skill if he/she has enough interest and puts in enough effort; it’s imperative that the effort isn’t in contrast to the natural potential. Job satisfaction exists only when there is a match between a person’s capacities and the work-demands. In the new millennium, there is an urgent need to give complete guidance on career choices. It is sometimes difficult for a graduating high school student to predict what type of training or education is going to be appropriate after high school. What should I do? Should I go to an Arts college or a professional school? What will I be good at? What should I major in? These are typical questions of high school students. Aided by well-established psychological tests, I will help students find their natural inclinations, their skills and provide with a realistic idea of career options for everyone. Career plays a very important role in our life because our psychological, social, and our economic profile for the major part of our life depends on it. Choosing a course or study area that proves not to be satisfactory wastes tuition costs; and time invested in acquiring knowledge and skills that one may never want to use in his/her career.
